Modular WASH facilities and emergency stockpile pathways

DS3-Global is preparing pilot WASH facility configurations for Indonesia, including latrines and accompanying fit-outs based on modular shelter principles and informed by the Bangladesh Nobojatra model. The Indonesia pathway is focused on preparedness, stockpiling and rapid configuration. Potential applications include:

• emergency latrine facilities;
• modular WASH units;
• accompanying fit-outs;
• stockpiled components for immediate use;
• multiple configurations for different emergency settings;
• rapid deployment following floods, earthquakes, volcanic events or other disasters.

The WASH pathway builds on DS3’s broader modular design philosophy: components should be adaptable, deployable, maintainable and capable of being configured for different community needs. The Indonesia WASH pathway applies DS3’s modular shelter thinking to one of the most urgent needs in emergency response: safe, rapid and adaptable sanitation.
