Rapid shelter mobilisation following a major earthquake
Following the Türkiye earthquake, DS3-Global responded to an urgent emergency request for shelter support.
The response included:
- approximately 4,000 emergency-use shelters from DS3’s sister factory in India;
- nearly 400 Version 1.0 CommUnity Shelters from DS3’s available stock;
- packing and dispatch preparation within three days of the request;
- delivery to port for FOB collection by the relevant agency.
The request was received at approximately 10:00pm Australia time. Within three days, available shelters were packed and moving toward port.
In the context of an enormous disaster, DS3’s contribution was small in scale, but it reflected what the organisation was able to do quickly and practically when help was requested.
This deployment should also be described transparently. DS3 was advised that the shelters were deployed, but due to the scale and urgency of the disaster response, DS3 does not hold detailed records of the final deployment locations or long-term performance of the shelters in the field.
For that reason, the Türkiye example is best positioned as evidence of rapid mobilisation, emergency supply capability and manufacturing readiness — rather than as a detailed field-performance case study.
Within three days of an urgent earthquake response request, DS3 had available shelters packed and moving toward port.
